Fiona HunterConsultant, Wellington New Zealand
Fiona Hunter is an experienced strengths-based practitioner, and over the last 20 years has worked to develop resilience and coping skills with literally hundreds of individuals, families – as well as teams - using a strengths-based paradigm focusing on stress and change. She has worked in a strengths-consulting and coaching capacity in both private and public sector - with executives, teams, small-business owners, medical staff, a women’s corrections facility, and individuals in her community. Fiona has provided supervision services for crisis workers, and been part of a service co-ordinating support to victims of crime.
Fiona’s qualification included study in psychology, sociology and social-work – and she began as a strengths-based social worker in Glasgow. Fiona was the first New Zealand accredited consultant in the StrengthScope assessment instrument, and is also a qualified social-worker, is certified in Erickson Timeline Therapy and is also an NLP certified practitioner. In addition to these qualifications, she is a qualified personal fitness-instructor (YMCA London). Over 30 years ago she founded a strengths-based ‘not-for-profit’ dance company for young-people aged 5-15 with profits donated to cancer charity, and she re-established this when she moved to New Zealand in 1999. The dance company is thriving, now including a teenage youth-mentoring scheme – with proceeds donated to CanTeen. Fiona lives in Wellington with her husband, two sons, two Siberian huskies, one spaniel, and five geckos.
